I love books…. I love to feel them, I love to smell them, I love to devour them. I love how the pages wear down with usage, I love to read about the authors, I love to read the reviews about the book, I love the synopsis or what I should get out of reading the book. Simply stated: I love books.
What I love more than a newly published book that I have been waiting to be available is a used book. It is like I have a piece of history in my hands. I wonder where the book has been. What the previous reader(s) enjoyed about it.
I go into a bit of a daydream attempting to imagine who the previous owner(s) was/were. I love to make up stories about them – especially if there is a note written out to them in the front of it or if the previous owner highlighted or made notations.
I love bookstores and lurrrrv used bookstores. Whenever I go book browsing I set the intention to find the book that will resonate with me at the time. Sometimes I find a stack, sometimes I find none and sometimes I find one. The other day I found one that just really spoke to me:
Take Time for Your Life: A Personal Coach’s 7-Step Program for Creating the Life You Want by Cheryl Richardson
This book reminded me that I am choosing to live my life with intention and I am responsible for my own happiness. I have control over many things in my life and I have to take the time for me if I want it to be successful. I am thinking that a women much like myself in her early 30’s purchased this book with good intentions and it sat on her bedside table as a reference more than a must read (based on the quality of the book and lack of bent pages & coffee stains).
I look forward to reading this book and I will be sure to put a review up once that occurs.
